2009 Wet 'n Wild Water women a great success

 

 

Enniscrone hosts Wet and Wild Water Women 2009

The Irish Surfing Association hosted its annual women’s surfing weekend, Wet and Wild Water Women in Enniscrone, Co Sligo last weekend. The weekend provides a unique opportunity for women of any age to learn to surf in an all female environment.

 

Enniscrone, once again, produced surf and sunshine for the event now in its eight year. Hundreds of women from all over the country attended making the event another huge success. Participants were able to take part in surfing lessons on Saturday and Sunday and were treated to a lunch time beach barbecue and a facial with H2O Sea Derived Skin Care after their surfing lesson.

 

Wet and Wild Water Women is hosted under the Women in Sport Initiative run by the Irish Sports Council to encourage more Irish women to participate in sport. The weekend was also supported by Denny, H2O Sea Derived Skin Care, Seventh Wave Surf School, Gilroy’s Bar. The success of this event depends on the women volunteers who run the event, special thanks to surf instructors- Fionnuala Kirby, Anna Lally, Ione Byrne, Tahlia Britton, Laurna Fox and the GMIT Girls, Erin, Evelyn and Liz; Poster Design- Easkey Britton; All the delicious food- Fun Britton with help from Tara, Tahlia, Fionnuala and Kathryn, Photographer- Kathryn Murray; Water Photographer- Charlotte O'Kelly, Pre event and Registration-Linda Byrne.
