21st Place For Denny Irish Surf Team

The World Surfing Games ended yesterday at Playa Hermosa, Jaco, Costa Rica culminating in a win for the USA with France 2nd, Australia 3rd and Hawaii 4th.  Jeremy Flores, France won the Open Men’s, Courtney Conlogue, USA won the Open Women’s and Antoine Delpero, France on the Longboard division. 

Ireland had to settle for 21st place dropping five places from 16th at the last World Surfing Games held in Portugal in 2008. Best of the Open Men's surfers was Liam Joyce who finishes 57th. Fergal Smith and Stephen Kilfeather finished joint 81st while Ronan Oertzen finished 97th.  In the Women’s division Nicole Morgan finished 25th while Tahlia Britton finished 49th. Longboards John Mc Curry and Emmet O’Doherty finished 29th and 49th respectively. 

The Denny Irish Surf Team will travel back to Ireland today after a long two weeks training and competition in Costa Rica. The team was supported by Denny, Quiksilver and ISC.
