Junior National Champs in Rossnowlagh this Weekend

Billabong Irish Junior Surfing Championships

 

The Irish Surfing Association is delighted to announce that Billabong has come on board with Nixon, Dakine and VZ to sponsor the Irish Junior Surfing Championships taking place in Rossnowlagh, Co Donegal this weekend.

Rossnowlagh Surf Club will be hosting the Championships for the twentieth consecutive year and will be expecting over one hundred young surfers from all over the country to compete.

There will be 13 national titles presented in surfing, longboarding and bodyboarding at the Championships. Billabong team rider, James Garvey will be one of the many young surfers in search of one of these prestigious national titles when he competes in the U16 boys surfing category.

Other event activities will include a beach barbecue and a short lecture with Denny Irish Surf Team Coach, Marcos Dias on “how to become a better competition surfer”.  

The Championships will kick off with registration at 9am on Saturday morning at Rossnowlagh Surf Club and will run Saturday and Sunday. Entry Fee- €10. Categories- U10 Expression Session, U10 Boys, U10 Girls Surf, U12 Boys, U12 Girls Surf, U14 Boys, U14 Girls Surf, U16 Boys, U16 Girls Surf, U18 Boys, U18 Girls Surf, U16 Bodyboard, U18 Bodyboard, U18 Longboard. Entry rules- Age group as per 1st January 2009 (eg U10 must have been 9 on the 1st January 2009). Surfer may only entry one category (no surfing out of age group or discipline). All entrants must produce their ISA membership card at registration.
